There has been a great deal of interest in the roles of ecosystem services in sustaining life and human societies. Some of the debates about them have centred around the role of ecosystem services in reducing or alleviating poverty, and that nexus is the concern of this research project. These debates have been vigorous, and that reason some of the contrasting positions and claims can be confusing. Our purpose is to understand better the different positions that are advocated and the communities of researchers and policy makers who produce them.
This website explains the project which we have created that examines the production of research, knowledge and policy about ecosystem services and poverty alleviation. In the pages below you learn more about the questions and rationale of the project (in the overview), the people and institutions which are part of it, and the work packages we are undertaking to complete this project. You can also access the writings from this project.
